DLCI Member Of The Month - March 2023 Janice Rayns

I’m originally from Nottingham (home of Robin Hood and Brian Clough) and have lived in the Dordogne for the last 9 years. A visit to a friend’s house in the Limousin gave me and my husband the France bug and after an extensive search we bought a rural farmhouse in the Forest de Double. We relocated to a house in Mouleydier just before Christmas and are busy refurbishing it. We have also bought a motorhome and plan to explore Europe.

In my previous life I worked as a medical secretary and then a teacher of adult literacy and numeracy which I really enjoyed.

I am an animal lover and used to volunteer at Brinsley Animal Rescue Centre. I am now retired and enjoy yoga, walks with my dog Bailey, card making and sewing. I am also a member of the Association Bois Verre in Saint Michel de Double where I am learning to produce tiffany glass items. Creative writing is another hobby and I am a member of the Bordeaux Writers Group (new members always welcome at our monthly meeting). As you will see from my photo I also like drinking cocktails.

I’m glad I became a member of DLCI. It is a very friendly group and there is always someone interesting to talk to.
