Phyllipa

Originally from Great Britain and born into a family of musicians, Phyllipa, lulled by music, began playing the cello at the age of 4. Phyllipa gave her first concert at 5, recorded by the BBC, surrounded by young cellists.

A series of scholarships and awards earned her a place at the Royal College of Music in London, and she toured with the RCM Orchestra in the United States.

Covent Garden: it was there that Phyllipa discovered jazz by listening to street musicians playing in the style of the 'Hot Club de France' and realized that she was made for this music.

Phyllipa learned to master the double bass in just three weeks to join the 'Bats Swing' quartet, a quartet noticed by the violinist Nigel Kennedy who invited them to accompany him for a series of concerts...

During a European street music tour, the Bats Swing recorded with France Musique at the Avignon Festival.

Phyllipa was encouraged to play and record in Sweden and France in the following years with several bands in various styles, ranging from Rock'a'Billy to Bulgarian Gypsies and including Pop.

Inspired by the French Musette, Phyllipa settled in France where the duo Phyll and Gilles was born, which records and tours across Europe.
